Carlene M. Ellis

Intel Corporation
Ms. Ellis is a 23-year veteran of Intel Corporation. In 1987, she became the first female vice president of Intel as vice president of Corporate Information Systems. She became a corporate officer of Intel in 1989. She was the first CIO of Intel from 1993 to 1998. In January of 1999, she was selected to lead Intel Innovation in Education for Intel as the Director and Vice President of Education. Ms. Ellis retired from Intel in May 2003 to focus on family, board activities, and philanthropic activities.
Ms. Ellis received her B.S. degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Georgia in 1969. She pursued postgraduate work in operations research and computer science at the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia. Ms. Ellis moved to Silicon Valley in 1976 and joined Fairchild Camera and Instruments. She held several technology positions there before joining Intel in 1980.
Ms. Ellis has received numerous honors during her 35-year career. She was admitted to the YWCA’s Academy of Women Achievers in 1985, recognizing her solid record of corporate achievements and contributions to the community. The San Francisco Chronicle named her one of “The Bay Area’s Most Powerful Corporate Women” in 1995. In June of 2003, Carlene was one of four women receiving the “Women Who Mean Business” award from the Sacramento Business Journal. She has served as a director of Merix Corporation, Chela, 21st Century Insurance and EdFund. Carlene is Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Mountain Valley Chapter and an alumnus of Delta Gamma Fraternity.
Ms. Ellis joined the board at its founding in February 2005.
