College Access Foundation of California

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – April 3, 2007 – College Access Foundation of California is launching a new identity to align with its mission to support organizations statewide that help qualified students who have financial need attend college.

Formerly The Education Financing Foundation of California (TEFFC), College Access Foundation funds community-based organizations that help students prepare for and enter institutions of higher learning. Created in February 2005 with proceeds from the sale of Chela Education Financing, it is the largest foundation of its kind in the state and will ultimately have more than $425 million to support organizations working to help students realize their dreams of a higher education.

“The name ‘College Access Foundation of California’ reflects not only our work to help California’s talented students pursue their educational goals,” said the Foundation’s President Caroline O. Boitano, “but also the spirit of equality – of ‘access’ for all – that guides our mission.”

Since 2005, the Foundation has put more than $7 million dollars toward organizations including: California Cash For College, Cal-SOAP projects across the state, COSMOS, Educating Young Minds, Fulfillment Fund, Larkin Street Youth Services, PACT Inc., San Jose Conservation Corps, Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, STAR Science & Education Program, Teach for America, Unite LA and United Friends of the Children.

College Access Foundation plans to grant $9 million in 2007 to additional community-based organizations across the state that provide educational opportunities to students.
