What is College Access Foundation of California?
College Access Foundation of California is a newly created foundation with the mission to improve access to higher education for students with financial need.

How large is College Access Foundation of California?
The foundation has assets of more than $450 million.

When did College Access Foundation of California begin making grants?
We’ve funded over $16 million in grants since 2005 and we expect to award more than $18 million annually in 2008 and beyond. Please visit our Partners page for more information on applying for these grants.

Who are the grants going to?
Grants are primarily awarded to community-based organizations (CBOs) that focus on providing greater access to college to California students with financial need. These CBOs are 501(c)3 nonprofit entities that apply for funding to award scholarships to students who have successfully graduated from their programs and are heading to college.

Who can the CBO give the scholarships to?
CBOs typically provide scholarships to students in their respective programs and progressing in college. It is the responsibility of the CBO to ensure the funds are going toward the cost of the student’s education.

I am a parent/student interested in information on college financing. Can College Access Foundation of California help?
College Access Foundation of California provides funding to groups that work with students but does not award scholarships directly to students. Parents and students can access suggested resources here.

Can an individual apply for a scholarship?
College Access Foundation of California works solely through CBOs. Individuals should not apply directly to the Foundation for scholarships.
